Finally! The cushion foundation that has been a massive hit in Korea has now made its way slowly into the UK and is currently being sold by two of the popular beauty brands, Lancome and Kiko. I hope to see more of the brands in the near future come out with their own version of the cushion foundation as I think their absolutely great!

In this post I will be taking a look at the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation which was introduced by Lisa Eldridge. You will see me unboxing the foundation for the first time, followed on with some information about the cushion foundation and finally my thoughts on it but first if you are not already aware of what cushion foundations are...

What is a Cushion Foundation?

Cushion foundations are a lightweight patented liquid foundation (lighter then any other liquid foundation that you've known of so far!) that is delivered through a air and liquid filled cushion. Cushion Foundations are a bit like an all in one system where BB/CC cream meets liquid foundation. The idea with cushion foundation is that you use the sponge applicator and gently press down onto the cushion in order to release the liquid.

You would typically expect to get light coverage from a cushion foundation however as the liquid is really light it is easily buildable to provide more coverage. There are currently many cushion foundations currently on the market from different brands which cater to both dry and oily skin types.

The Stamping Technique

When it comes to cushion foundation the idea to applying it in order to achieve the best results is that you stamp (or dab) the foundation on to the skin a bit like when your applying your normal foundation with a beauty blender.

As you can see from the above photo the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation was made in Korea.

I purchased the cushion in the shade 02 (Rose Beige).

The cushion as expected comes along with its own silicone face sponge.

There is a lid that separates the sponge and the cushion itself.

Unveiling the cushion.

The Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation like any other cushion foundation is very compact and feels very light when holding it in your hand. You can easily pop this compact foundation into your bag and use it to touch up your make up no matter where you are.

Product Details & Claims

The Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation contains SPF 23 & claims to provide weightless buildable coverage whilst also proving long lasting hydration and a fresh glow. It's priced at £29.50 for 14g (0.52oz) and refills are priced at £19.50. The foundation comes along in 6 shades and promises to work for the fairest to the darkest of skin tones.

Texture & Coverage

This is my first time trying any cushion foundation so I was not sure what I should really be expecting. This cushion foundation lives up to pretty much everything it says it does. It's super light and feel refreshing and cool on the skin. It is so easy to apply and blend the product on to skin without having to tap and dab too much. The product almost blends into the skin seamlessly and your skin instantly feels hydrated and looks radiant. It leaves a gorgeous soft velvety dewy finish and it feels so light on the skin that you will even forget your wearing makeup.

Considering that the liquid is super light you would expect the lowest of all coverage's however the coverage that the cushion has to offer might just surprise you. I find that it was able to minimize the appearance of enlarged pores around my tzones areas very well however when it came to covering redness it did not perform so well and I found some of my pretty red blemishes will peak through therefore I would highly recommend using a concealer on any dark marks or redness.

This is a hydrating cushion foundation therefore it is intended for people with dry/normal skin types however I have dry, combination & sensitive skin I also get the occasional break out but I find it that it works well on my skin and it does not irritate my skin or cling on to any dry patches. It also does not feel oily on my tzone areas although I do make sure that I set it with loose powder just for extra protection.

Product Durability

The lasting power of the foundation is also quite great. I would say it stays intact for about 4/5 hours when set properly before it requires a little touch up.

Overall I am a big fan of this product and love to wear it on a daily basis whether its under my foundation or on it's own on a very lazy day. It's a great foundation and I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a summer foundation or for anyone who does not require that much coverage.
